When it comes to blowers, there are many different types. However, there are two main types that you may use on a regular basis. These include centrifugal and positive displacement blowers.
Positive Displacement Blowers
Positive displacement blowers take advantage of positive displacement technology. When a positive displacement blower is used, movement is caused when a fixed amount of air is trapped and then forced through the discharge pipe. Depending on the mechanism used to move the fixed air, positive displacement technology can be classified further.
Centrifugal blowers achieve pressure when kinetic energy, or velocity, is added to a continuous flow of air through an impellor or a rotor. The kinetic energy created during this process is converted to static pressure by slowing the flow of air through a diffuser. This type of technology is not just used in blowers; it is also used in centrifugal compressors and fans.
